Flyers.
As many will recall, scooter people planned entire weekends around those
8.5 x 11-inch golden tickets.
Whether it was
for rallies, shows, races, or club parties, flyers were the only reliable
way to promote and find out about events. There wasn't a flight jacket
or glove box that didn't contain a few flyers crumpled into a pocket
or wedged behind a bottle of two stroke.
Well, I haven't
given much thought to them for years, but recently we moved into a new
place, and while packing things up, I found a box crammed full of 45s
and a manila envelope stuffed with old flyers.
While I don't
have a turntable anymore, I do have a scanner. So I figured I'd share
these flyers with other scooter folks, but especially those who will
remember them, in hopes that this little time tunnel will spark a walk
down memory lane.
The flyers range
from approximately 1984 to 1988; are from OC, LA, SF (Bay Area), and
Sacto; and run the gamut from major event promotions to quick signs
for somebody's house party.
Enjoy the trip.
PS: I also found
a couple old issues of Wha-am! magazine. Maybe I'll try scanning
in some pages. However, I may die of embarrassment in the process. |
